Area Two Availability 2021
Dear Fellow Bowler
First of all welcome to players from Addlestone Victory Park, Chertsey, Egham and Ottershaw as these clubs have moved from Area 4 to Area 2. At the same time we have had to say goodbye to players from Cheam, Cheam Fields and Ewell Village as they have moved from Area 2 to Area 3.
We hope that we will be able to play all the games we have scheduled for this year but we will of course have to see what is allowed by the Government and what directions we receive from Bowls England. With this proviso we hope to see as many players as possible represent Area Two in the matches listed below.
The Area Trial is particularly important for players new or fairly new to Area Two and is also a good opportunity for existing players to gain further experience at this level. It will be played over 15 ends and should finish around 11.30 to give players plenty of time to play in other matches in the afternoon.
The Walter Cross Inter-Area matches aim to identify Players of Promise as a stepping stone towards County Representative matches. At least six unbadged players must be selected for each Walter Cross game.
Players of varying abilities will be selected to play in the other three matches not just the top players.
Towards the end of the season on Saturday 18 September there will be a Combined Areas Trial between a Combined Areas team consisting of six players from each Area and a Middleton Cup Team. The Middleton Cup Manager will be looking for players suitable for inclusion in the Middleton Cup and Home Counties squads for 2022. The Area Two Team Managers will invite players to take part in the Trial taking into consideration in particular their performances in the Walter Cross games and the County Competitions.
